If you drill down, almost everything billed as “new” on television really isn’t. Elements of the past always echo.
But, sometimes, a new show is an out-and-out revival, like ABC’s rebooting of the classic game show “To Tell the Truth.” It will run for six episodes, hosted by “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson.
Actually, revival may be the wrong term. Desecration, anyone?
ABC’s version will have comedic overtones, a house band and feature Anderson’s mother, Doris, as the official scorekeeper. According to Variety, she’ll be “embarrassing her son every chance he gets.” One of the regular panelists will be Betty White. (Is she in everything?)
